Lud Wray (James R. Ludlow Wray) was born on February 7, 1894 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Chestnut Hill Academy (Philadelphia, PA), Wray attended the University of Pennsylvania. Wray made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Buffalo All-Americans. He played for the Buffalo All-Americans for his entire 2 year career.
