With Orlando Pace virtually retired, Marc Bulger spent more time on the shelf than he did on the field, and the 2007 St. Louis Rams slowly descended toward the bottom half of the NFL, plummeting to depths earning them the second overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

[edit] History

One of the oldest teams in professional football history, the St. Louis Rams have bounced around the nation in their eighty-plus year tenure. Originally the Cleveland Rams back in 1937, the franchise wouldn't break the .500 barrier until 1945 -- including 1943, when due to World War II, they did not play at all.

The next year, the Rams moved to Los Angeles, becoming the first West Coast team in the league. They'd stay there for fifty years. Their historic first were not limited to location, however. Also in 1946, the team signed Kenny Washington and Woody Strode, the first two African-Americans in the soon-to-be NFL. Jackie Robinson would break Major League Baseball's color barrier a year later. And in 1948, the Rams became the first team to put logos on their helmets.
